InnovEd is privately owned and run by the Lenagan family with offices in London, Wigan and Milton Keynes.
InnovEd Chairman, Ian Lenagan, has more than 40 years of experience in worldwide software markets having previously founded and run WorkPlace Systems plc, which floated successfully on the London Stock Exchange in 2000.
InnovEd’s Directors decided 5 years ago to apply their creative design and development expertise and substantial private funds to the Education Sector believing adoption of on-line technology would offer unparallelled advantages and benefits to the education and learning process.
Initially InnovEd wrote VLE software and BTEC Sport Content and delivered the courses to full-time & part-time sports students aged 16-19 & 14-16.
The intentions were to increase participation in Further Education using sport as the attraction together with InnovEd’s unique links with professional football and rugby clubs and also to allow InnovEd to engage deeper into the education software marketplace.
Significant market research with colleges, universities, work-based learning providers and large companies with employee education requirements indicated that, whilst free-standing software products (VLEs and e-portfolios) had some appeal, the urgent requirement was for a comprehensive on-line education management system incorporating learning, assessing, progress tracking, analytics and financial reporting.
